Innovation is what pushes the development of urban mobility forward. We can see the changes every day

There has never been a more vital part to the development of the urban mobility than innovation. From the invention of the wheel to mass production of cars, innovation moves us forward every day and helps us overcome even the problems that we are facing today. What exactly are the challenges of urban mobility in the 21st century? And how can the bright minds make their ideas become reality? Let's find out in the new episode of the Urban Mobility Podcast brought to you in collaboration of INFO.CZ and the EIT Urban Mobility.

Have you ever wondered how would the traffic look like if there were no traffic lights at almost every crossroad? Today we take them for granted, but do you realise that the invention of traffic lights is over a hundred years old? Without innovation, maybe we will still be riding horse driven carriages today. “Innovation is constantly changing our lives and we see that everyday,” says Marian Nič, the innovation life cycle officer at the EIT Urban Mobility Innovation Hub East adding that the way of living in the cities has changed significantly in the last century, but also technologies helping us overcome the daily struggles of urban living have gone a long road. “When we look at our changing environment, we can see three different topics. The first is digital transformation, the second is the mindset shift that the digital transformation brought us and the third is the regulation of a sustainable environment,” explains Nič.
