Modern times call for modern solutions. Everyone living in a city can see, that the cities all around the world are changing. What can we do to make the most of the change and move forward to the much needed transformation of the cities into more liveable and less burdensome for the environment? One of the necessary things is collaboration with research and academic institutions, being open to their innovations and helping to put the revolutionary ideas into use. "Today’s urban planners and transport engineers face a range of challenges and are needed to take advantage of such transformations to help create urban environments that consume fewer resources, contribute less to climate change, and support more liveable neighborhoods," says Traian Urban, the director of EIT Urban Mobility Innovation Hub East. Urban also emphasises how crucial it is to collaborate with research institutions and universities and work together to find the best sollutions to achieve the desired goals. "These institutions are an essential part of our community. They are closely collaborating with cities, small and medium enterprises and industry on new technologies and business models improving and transforming our cities," adds Urban.
